The kingfisher is registered as the city bird in Shizuoka City. With jade-colored wings and tail and orange tummy, it is said to be the "waterside jewel" when it flies over the river. Ayu is a popular fish in this area, which can be caught in the river that flows near the Shizuoka Distillery. Using Kingfisher and Ayu as the label graphic in Op.4 is the best choice.
Shizuoka Distillery was built in 2015 and completed in 2016. Production started in October and the first cask was filled in December same year. Op.4 was distilled in December 2017 and was bottled 3 years and 9 months later due to the maturation and weather condition. 36 bottles are filled, and 15 of them are released to whisky lovers of Hong Kong via ballot.
Op.4 is structured and aromatic - coconut, creamy, stone fruit, sweet spices and with a hint of grass. It is outperformed for such a young whisky by a newly established distillery.
We recommend to enjoy the whisky upon opening the bottle for 2 weeks to a month for breathing.
